Abstract
A woven laminated plastic bag having an easy open feature is provided. The easy open feature is generally defined by a weakened portion in the bag. A cover may cover the weakened portion and may be opened by pulling on a pull tab. In various aspects the bag can be fabricated from a woven polypropylene or polyethylene layer which can be coated or laminated with a polypropylene or polyethylene film layer, can form a pinch bottom bag, a block bottom bag, and can have front, back, side, and top and bottom panels that may have high quality graphics and/or printing.
Claims29
A block bottom bag for bulk material, the bag comprising:
- a front wall, a back wall, a first side wall, and a second side wall, each having a top end and a bottom end;
- each of the front wall, back wall, first side wall, and second side wall consisting essentially of a laminate, the laminate consisting essentially of:
- a first layer consisting essentially of woven strips consisting essentially of polypropylene, and
- a second layer consisting essentially of a biaxially oriented polypropylene film, wherein the first layer and second layer are laminated together, and wherein the laminated first layer and second layer form a block bottom bag,
- wherein the block bottom bag further comprises an easy open feature located on at least one surface of the bag, and wherein the easy open feature is covered by a cover having a pull tab at one end thereof, the cover located on an exterior surface of the bag, and
- wherein the bag is configured to hold at least ten pounds of a bulk material without tearing when the top end and the bottom end of the bag have been sealed, with at least one of the top end and bottom end sealed with heat sealing, and the easy open feature can be opened when a user pulls on the pull tab.
A bag formed from a tubular material, wherein the tubular material comprises a first layer consisting essentially of woven polypropylene, a second layer consisting essentially of polypropylene film, and a third layer consisting essentially of polypropylene laminating the first layer and second layer together, and wherein the tubular material is configured to form a bag that has a front panel, a first side panel, a back panel, a second side panel, a top panel, and a bottom panel, with the bag configured to hold at least ten pounds of a material without tearing when the top panel and the bottom panel are sealed, with at least one of the top panel and the bottom panel sealed with heat sealing, and wherein at least one surface of the bag has a weakened portion covered by a cover having a pull tab, the cover located on an exterior surface of the bag, and wherein a user can open the weakened portion of the bag by pulling on the pull tab.
A bag for bulk items, the bag comprising:
- a front panel;
- a back panel;
- a first side panel connecting a first edge of the front panel to a first edge of the back panel;
- and
- a second side panel connecting a second edge of the front panel to a second edge of the back panel, wherein each of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel and the second side panel has a top end and a bottom end, and wherein each of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel is formed from a sheet of material consisting essentially of a first layer consisting essentially of woven strips consisting essentially of polypropylene and a second layer consisting essentially of a film consisting essentially of polypropylene, polyethylene, or a combination thereof, wherein the first layer and second layer form a laminate;
- and
- wherein the top end and the bottom end of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel are configured to form a top panel and a bottom panel when the bag is filled with a bulk material and the top end and the bottom end of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel are sealed;
- wherein at least one of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, the top panel, or the bottom panel comprise a weakened portion;
- and
- wherein a cover is located on an exterior surface of the bag, the cover covering the weakened portion, wherein a user can open the bag at the weakened portion by pulling on the cover.
A block bottom bag for bulk material, the bag comprising:
- a first layer consisting essentially of woven strips consisting essentially of polypropylene, wherein the first layer further comprises a coating;
- a second layer consisting essentially of a biaxially oriented polypropylene film, wherein the first layer and second layer are laminated together, and wherein the laminated first layer and second layer form a block bottom bag having a front wall, a back wall, a first side wall, a second side wall, a top end, and a bottom end;
- and
- wherein the block bottom bag further comprises an easy open feature located on at least one surface of the bag, and wherein the easy open feature is covered by a cover having a pull tab at one end thereof, the cover located on an exterior surface of the bag;
- and
- wherein the bag is configured to hold at least ten pounds of a bulk material without tearing when the top end and the bottom end of the bag have been sealed, with at least one of the top end and bottom end sealed with heat sealing, and the easy open feature can be opened when a user pulls on the pull tab.
