Apparatus for packaging articles

An apparatus for packaging articles into a package, said articles being composed of one or more products, said products being in the form of rolls, the apparatus comprising:

• a supplying device for supplying said articles, the supplying device including at least one conveyor;
• a preparing device for preparing groups of articles to be packaged, the preparing device including at least one robot for forming the group of articles on a supporting surface;
• a packaging device of the respective group of articles to be packaged, the packaging device including a wrapping device;
• a plurality of independent, or discrete, treatment modules or units for treating said articles, which treatment modules or units are situated in a sequential manner or in a succession to one another, to provide for the packaging of the articles, through the preparation of the groups of articles, to provide a packaged group of articles;
• wherein at least one of said treatment modules or units is the preparing device, the preparing device comprising a first autonomous supporting frame and having a first inlet for a respective one of the articles and a first outlet for a respective one of the groups of articles;
• and
• wherein at least another one of said treatment modules or units, separate from the preparing device is the packaging device, the packaging device comprising a second autonomous supporting frame and having a second inlet for the respective one of the groups of articles and a second outlet for the packaged group of articles.
