Abstract
A method of controlling propulsion of a marine vessel includes receiving a joystick position of a joystick and determining a commanded velocity based on the joystick position such that a magnitude of the commanded velocity is equal for a given joystick position magnitude in all linear directions for which the joystick can be deflected. A plurality of marine drives are then controlled based on the commanded velocity.
Claims20
A method of controlling propulsion of a marine vessel includes:
- receiving a joystick position of a joystick;
- determining a commanded velocity based on the joystick position such that a magnitude of the commanded velocity is equal for a given joystick position magnitude in all linear directions for which the joystick can be deflected;
- and
- controlling a plurality of marine drives based on the commanded velocity.
1 more element
A marine propulsion system for a marine vessel, the system comprising:
- a joystick;
- at least one steerable marine drive;
- a control system configured to:
- receive a joystick position of the joystick;
- determine a commanded velocity based on the joystick position such that a magnitude of the commanded velocity is equal for a given joystick position magnitude in all linear directions for which the joystick can be deflected;
- and
- control the at least one steerable marine drive based on the commanded velocity.
