Abstract
The disclosure relates to a method for operating a cleaning system for cleaning a sensor surface of a sensor of a vehicle, in particular an optical sensor, having the step: applying an amount of compressed air to the sensor surface in an air cleaning step characterized by: checking an air cleaning result in a checking step; in the event of a negative air cleaning result, performing a hybrid cleaning step including: applying an amount of cleaning fluid to the sensor surface in a fluid, in particular liquid, cleaning step; and/or, applying an amount of compressed air to the sensor surface in a further air cleaning step.
Claims24
A method for operating a cleaning system for cleaning a sensor surface of a sensor of a vehicle, the method comprising:
- applying an amount of compressed air to the sensor surface in an air cleaning step;
- checking an air cleaning result in a checking step;
- and,
- performing a hybrid cleaning step in an event of a negative air cleaning result, wherein said hybrid cleaning step includes at least one of:
- applying an amount of cleaning fluid to the sensor surface in a number of one or more cycles of a fluid cleaning step and recording the number of said cycles;
- applying an amount of compressed air to the sensor surface in a further air cleaning step;
- wherein the amount of cleaning fluid is determined using the number of said cycles as an input parameter such that a larger number of said cycles leads to a greater amount of cleaning fluid imparted to said surface of the sensor;
- wherein the amount of compressed air applied to the sensor surface in the air cleaning step depends on the number of cycles such that a larger number of cycles leads to a greater amount of compressed air being applied in succeeding cycles,
- wherein the amount of compressed air is increased up to a maximum amount of compressed air.
A method for operating a cleaning system for cleaning a sensor surface of a sensor of a vehicle, the method comprising:
- applying an amount of compressed air to the sensor surface in an air cleaning step;
- checking an air cleaning result in a checking step;
- and,
- performing a hybrid cleaning step in an event of a negative air cleaning result, wherein said hybrid cleaning step comprises:
- (A) applying an amount of cleaning fluid to the sensor surface in a fluid cleaning step;
- then
- (B) applying an amount of compressed air to the sensor surface in a further air cleaning step;
- and then
- (C) checking a hybrid cleaning result;
- and
- repeating the hybrid cleaning step until a termination condition is reached, wherein the amount of cleaning fluid is determined using a number of cycles of said hybrid cleaning step as an input parameter, and wherein the termination condition is reached, if (a) as a first termination condition, the hybrid cleaning result is positive or (b) as a second termination condition, a number of times that the hybrid cleaning step is performed has reached a maximum value.
