Abstract
The present disclosure provides three-dimensional (3D) printing systems, apparatuses, software, and methods for safe production of at least one requested 3D object, and for passivation of material accumulated on a filter of the 3D printing system.
Claims25
An apparatus for passivation of debris generated by three-dimensional printing, the apparatus comprising:
- a controller;
- a passivation chamber;
- at least one valve in communication with the controller and configured to:
- (a) introduce a passivation mixture to the passivation chamber, the passivation chamber having debris generated by a three-dimensional printing process, wherein the three-dimensional printing process includes printing a three-dimensional object from a starting material comprising elemental metal or metal alloy in a three-dimensional printer, the passivation mixture including a diluent and an oxidizing agent,
- (b) during passivation, adjust a relative amount of the diluent and the oxidizing agent by introducing additional diluent or oxidizing agent to the passivation chamber;
- and
- at least one sensor configured to indicate that a filter media is breaking down, wherein the filter media is disposed in the passivation chamber, wherein the filter media is configured to collect debris during the three-dimensional printing process;
- and
- wherein, in response to the at least one sensor indicating that the filter media is breaking down, the controller is configured to cause the at least one valve to adjust an amount of the oxidizing agent.
