Abstract
A swimming start block assembly having an adjustable track start wedge is disclosed. The track start wedge is slidable forward and rearward along an upper surface of a swimming start block and is lockable at a desired position by inserting locking tabs positioned at each side of the track start wedge into a set of apertures positioned along each side of the start block. The track start wedge may be spring-loaded toward a locked position and the assembly may be configured so that the locking tabs are received by apertures regardless of whether they are aligned when the wedge is released from an unlocked position.
Claims19
A swimming starting block assembly comprising:
- a starting block having an upper surface configured for a swimmer to stand on at the start of a competitive swimming event, the starting block having a front edge, a rear edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge;
- a track start wedge that is slidable along the upper surface along an axis running between the front edge and the rear edge and lockable at a plurality of distances from the front edge;
- wherein the upper surface comprises, along each of the first and second sides:
- a plurality of apertures aligned along the axis, each of the plurality of apertures being configured to receive a locking tab of the track start wedge;
- and
- a track along which a carriage of the track start wedge is configured to slide;
- and
- wherein the track start wedge comprises an angled front surface configured for the swimmer to place one of his/her feet and, along each of its sides:
- a carriage configured to slide along the track in a frontward and rearward direction;
- and
- a locking tab configured to prevent sliding of the track start wedge when received by one of the plurality of apertures.
