Abstract
A basketball training system includes a server computer and a basketball training machine. The server computer executes a workout module that manages operation of a graphical user interface that presents a graphical representation of a portion of a basketball court and receives user inputs that define a workout program that includes selected ball delivery locations relative to the visual representation. The basketball training machine receives the workout program and delivers basketballs to the selected ball delivery locations.
Claims20
A basketball training system comprising:
- a basketball delivery machine having (i) a user interface including a touch screen that is configured to receive user inputs, (ii) a mechanical ball launcher, and (iii) one or more processors that perform operations comprising:
- providing, for display on the touch screen, a visual representation of a basketball court;
- receiving ball delivery location inputs that each indicate a respective location on the visual representation of a basketball court that is displayed on the touch screen, two or more of the ball delivery location inputs having different relative angles and different relative distances to a goal icon or a ball delivery machine icon on the visual representation of the basketball court;
- generating an ordered sequence of the ball delivery location inputs, ordered in a chronological order based on when each ball delivery location input was received;
- after all of the ball delivery location inputs have been received and before a workout program is generated based at least on the ordered sequence of ball delivery location inputs, generating, for each of the ball delivery location inputs, a selectable sequence numeral icon to display on the touch screen at the location on the visual representation of the basketball court that is indicated for the ball delivery location input, the selectable sequence numeral icon displaying a sequence numeral that is based at least initially on a respective position of the ball delivery location input in the ordered sequence, the sequence numeral indicating an order in which a basketball will be delivered, and the sequence numeral associated with each selectable sequence numeral icon being independently updatable in response to subsequent updates to one or more other selectable sequence numeral icons without deleting a remainder of the ball delivery location inputs in the ordered sequence;
- after all of the ball delivery location inputs have been received and before the workout program is generated based at least on the ordered sequence of ball delivery inputs, providing, for display at once on the touch screen, all of the selectable sequence numeral icons at locations on the visual representation of the basketball court corresponding to the ball delivery location inputs, the selectable sequence numeral icons each indicating both a respective location towards which the basketball will be delivered and displaying a respective sequence numeral indicating an order in which a basketball will be delivered;
- after all of the selectable sequence numeral icons are provided for output at once on the touch screen and in response to receiving a user selection of a control for generating the workout program, generating the workout program based at least on the ordered sequence of ball delivery location inputs;
- and
- providing control commands to the mechanical ball launcher to deliver basketballs to a user according to the workout program.
