A system for controlling a cardiac support device, the system comprising:
- a first energy source;
- a first extracorporeal control device detachably connectable to the first energy source and comprising:
- a first user input interface configured to receive user input including commands to change one or more settings of a pump of the cardiac support device;
- a first coil configured to connect the first extracorporeal control device to the cardiac support device for communication or energy transfer;
- a first communication interface configured to receive wireless instructions to control the pump of the cardiac support device and to transmit changes to one or more settings of the pump made at the first user input interface;
- and
- processing circuitry configured to cause transfer of energy from the first energy source to the cardiac support device via the first coil;
- and
- a second extracorporeal control device communicatively coupled to the first extracorporeal control device in a client-server configuration, detachably connectable to the first energy source and comprising:
- a second user input interface configured to receive user input including commands to change the one or more settings of the pump of the cardiac support device;
- a second communication interface configured to:
- receive user input comprising a command to change the one or more settings of the pump of the cardiac support device;
- wirelessly connect the second extracorporeal control device to the first extracorporeal control device,
- provide the command to control the one or more settings of the pump made at the second user input interface to the first extracorporeal control device, the first user input interface to control the pump of the cardiac support device based on the command, and
- processing circuitry configured to cause transfer of energy to the cardiac support device, from the first energy source or from a detachably connectable second energy source;
- wherein during operation of the cardiac support device, the pump of the cardiac support device is controlled by the first extracorporeal control device when the command received via the first user input interface is provided to the cardiac support device and controlled by the second extracorporeal control device when the command received via the second user input interface is provided to the cardiac support device via the first extracorporeal control device.
A cardiac support system comprising:
- a first energy source;
- a cardiac support device;
- a first extracorporeal control device detachably connectable to the first energy source and comprising:
- a first user input interface configured to receive user input including commands to change one or more settings of a pump of the cardiac support device;
- a first coil configured to connect the first extracorporeal control device to the cardiac support device for communication or energy transfer;
- a first communication interface configured to receive wireless instructions to control the pump of the cardiac support device and to transmit changes to one or more settings of the pump made at the first user input interface;
- and
- processing circuitry configured to cause transfer of energy from the first energy source to the cardiac support device via the first coil;
- and
- a second extracorporeal control device communicatively coupled to the first extracorporeal control device in a client-server configuration, detachably connectable to the first energy source and comprising:
- a second user input interface configured to receive user input including commands to change the one or more settings of the cardiac support device;
