Medical systems and assemblies for delivering fluid

A medical assembly, comprising:

• a syringe assembly including a barrel and a plunger, wherein the plunger is movably disposed within the barrel;
• a cavity configured to removably receive the syringe assembly;
• a rod having a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the rod is configured to contact the plunger to expel a fluid from the barrel of the plunger;
• a sensor, wherein the sensor is configured to measure a force or a pressure that is parallel to or coaxial with a central longitudinal axis of the rod;
• and
• a bracket, wherein the rod is irremovably coupled to the bracket, wherein the bracket is configured such that the rod is longitudinally movable with respect to the bracket, and wherein a force from a proximal wall of the bracket on the rod causes longitudinal movement of the rod to advance the plunger to expel the fluid from the barrel of the plunger.

A medical system, comprising:

• a medical device;
• a syringe assembly including a barrel and a plunger movably disposed within the barrel;
• and
• a control unit, wherein the control unit includes:
• a rod;
• a sensor, wherein a central longitudinal axis of the rod is parallel to or coaxial with a straight line extending through the plunger and the sensor;
• and
• a bracket, wherein the rod is coupled to the bracket such that (a) the rod is longitudinally movable relative to the bracket, and (b) non-longitudinal movement of the rod relative to the bracket is inhibited;
• and
• an actuator configured to move the bracket, thereby moving the plunger distally to expel a fluid from the barrel into the medical device while the rod is longitudinally movable relative to the bracket.
