Abstract
A patient care system includes a control unit capable of coupling with multiple modular medical devices. A modular medical device can be coupled with the control unit, wherein the behavior of the modular medical device automatically adjusts based on the status of being coupled or un-coupled with the control unit.
Claims18
An infusion pump alarm management system, comprising:
- a display;
- a control unit capable of docking with at least one infusion pump;
- at least one data processor;
- and
- at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one data processor, cause the control unit to at least:
- detect that a first infusion pump has been docked to the control unit;
- establish a data link between the first infusion pump and the control unit upon detecting the first infusion pump being docked to the control unit;
- adjust a behavior of the first infusion pump or the control unit based on the status of the first infusion pump being docked to or undocked from the control unit, wherein the behavior relates to management of an alarm condition;
- detect that a second infusion pump has been docked to the control unit;
- establish a data link between the second infusion pump and control unit upon detecting the second infusion pump being docked to the control unit;
- and
- adjust a behavior of the second infusion pump or the control unit based on the status of the second infusion pump being docked to or undocked from the control unit, wherein the behavior of the second infusion pump relates to management of an alarm condition.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions executable by a processor to cause a control unit of a medical fluid delivery system to:
- detect that a first infusion pump has been docked to a control unit;
- establish a data link between the first infusion pump and control unit upon detecting the first infusion pump being docked to the control unit;
- adjust a behavior of the first infusion pump or the control unit based on the status of the first infusion pump being docked to or undocked from the control unit, wherein the behavior relates to management of an alarm condition;
- detect that a second infusion pump has been docked to the control unit;
- establish a data link between the second infusion pump and control unit upon detecting the second infusion pump being docked to the control unit;
- and
- adjust a behavior of the second infusion pump or the control unit based on the status of the second infusion pump being docked to or undocked from the control unit, wherein the behavior relates to management of an alarm condition.
