Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a benzenesulfonamide derivative which is useful to modulate lipid raft integrity of cancer cells and the use of the benzenesulfonamide derivative in prevention or treatment of diseases or conditions which can be ameliorated by change of the lipid raft integrity in a subject.
Claims11
A method for modulating a lipid raft integrity of a cell, comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition to a subject in need of treatment for modulating the lipid raft integrity, wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises a benzenesulfonamide derivative that serves as a cholesterol-depleting agent, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient thereof, wherein the method treats a disease susceptible to amelioration by a decreased level of the lipid raft integrity, wherein the disease is a cancer, and wherein the cancer expresses lipid raft markers and is at least one selected from the group consisting of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, seminoma, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, thyroid cancer, meningiomas, bile duct cancer, and vulvar cancer;
- wherein the benzenesulfonamide derivative is para-toluene sulfonamide, and
- wherein the cancer is screened for increased expression of lipid raft markers.
A method for treating cancer, comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition to a subject in need thereof, wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises a benzenesulfonamide derivative that serves as a cholesterol-depleting agent, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient thereof, wherein the cancer is susceptible to amelioration by a decreased level of the lipid raft integrity, and wherein the cancer expresses lipid raft markers and is at least one selected from the group consisting of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, seminoma, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, thyroid cancer, meningiomas, bile duct cancer, and vulvar cancer;
- wherein the benzenesulfonamide derivative is para-toluene sulfonamide, and
- wherein the cancer is screened for increased expression of lipid raft markers.
A method for treating a subject suffering from prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, seminoma, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, thyroid cancer, meningiomas, bile duct cancer, or vulvar cancer, the method comprising:
- screening prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, seminoma, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, thyroid cancer, meningiomas, bile duct cancer, or vulvar cancer for increased expression of lipid raft markers;
- and
- administering to the subject with prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, seminoma, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, thyroid cancer, meningiomas, bile duct cancer, or vulvar cancer having increased expression of lipid raft markers an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition that comprises para-toluene sulfonamide that serves as a cholesterol-depleting agent, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient thereof.
