Abstract
A system for guiding a glenoid prosthesis is disclosed. The system includes a glenoid guide that includes: a guide feature; at least three arms having a first end coupled with the guide feature and a second end disposed away from the guide feature; at least three peripheral pegs, each peripheral peg extending from the second end of a corresponding arm and includes an engagement surface configured to engage the scapula of the patient; and a strut extending laterally from the guide feature.
Claims11
A system for guiding a glenoid prosthesis that includes a glenoid component, the system comprising:
- a glenoid guide that comprises:
- a central tubular element defining a lumen;
- at least three arms radially extending from the central tubular element, each arm of the at least three arms having a first end coupled with the central tubular element and a second end disposed away from the central tubular element;
- at least three peripheral pegs, each peripheral peg extending from the second end of a corresponding arm, extending away from a bone-facing surface of the corresponding arm, and comprising an engagement surface configured to engage a peripheral border of a glenoid cavity of a patient;
- and
- a strut radially extending from the central tubular element, the strut comprising a positioning opening;
- and
- a pin guide configured to be at least partially received within the lumen defined by the central tubular element,
- wherein a longitudinal direction of each of the at least three peripheral pegs extends substantially orthogonally from an axis defined by the corresponding arm of the at least three arms such that each arm of the at least three arms is spaced apart from a glenoid when each engagement surface of the at least three peripheral pegs engages the peripheral border of the glenoid cavity.
A system for guiding a glenoid prosthesis that includes a glenoid component, the system comprising:
- a glenoid guide, including:
- a central tubular element defining a lumen configured to receive a pin guide;
- a plurality of arms, each arm having a first end coupled with central tubular element and a second end disposed away from the guide feature such that each arm of the plurality of arms extends radially outwardly from the guide feature;
- and
- a plurality of peripheral pegs having a circular cross-section, wherein each peripheral peg includes a lateral end being coupled to the second end of a corresponding one of the plurality of arms, the peripheral peg extending away from a bone-facing surface of the corresponding arm, and comprising an engagement surface at a medial end, the engagement surface configured to conform to a three dimensional shape of a glenoid cavity border of a scapula of a patient such that each arm of the plurality of arms is spaced apart from a lateral surface of a glenoid when each of the engagement surfaces contacts the border of the glenoid cavity,
- wherein a longitudinal direction of each of the plurality peripheral pegs extends substantially orthogonally from an axis defined by the corresponding arm of the plurality of arms such that each arm of the plurality of arms is spaced apart from a glenoid when each engagement surface of the plurality of peripheral pegs engages the glenoid cavity border of the scapula.
