Abstract
A safety barrier for protecting a covered surface from exposure to dangerous fluids is provided with a membrane with a protected region having one or more built-in safety features defined by set of safety related properties and placed over the surface to inhibit the exposure of the dangerous fluids onto or into the surface and a safety indicator providing a visually perceptible alert at the outermost surface of the membrane indicative of at least one safety related property.
Claims73
A safety barrier for protecting an underlying surface from exposure to pathogens, the barrier comprising:
- a membrane having a form configured to fit closely over at least a portion of the underlying surface, the membrane having an outermost surface disposed distalmost from the underlying surface when the membrane is placed thereon, the membrane further including at least one protected region with at least a portion of the at least one protected region having one or more built-in safety features configured to inhibit the exposure to pathogens onto or into the underlying surface with at least one of the one or more built-in safety features being defined by a set of safety-related properties including a presence, a location, and a prevention type;
- and
- at least one safety indicator carried by the membrane and providing a visually-perceptible alert at the outermost surface of the membrane, the visually-perceptible alert indicative of at least one safety-related property of the at least one safety feature, wherein the visually-perceptible alert is visually perceptible prior to a breach of the outermost surface of the membrane.
A safety barrier for protecting an underlying surface from exposure to pathogens, the barrier comprising:
- a membrane having a form configured to fit closely over at least a portion of the underlying surface, the membrane having an outermost surface disposed distalmost from the underlying surface when the membrane is placed thereon, the membrane further including at least one protected region with at least a portion of the at least one protected region having one or more built-in safety features configured to inhibit the exposure to pathogens onto or into the underlying surface with at least one of the one or more built-in safety features being defined by one or more safety-related properties selected from the list consisting of:
- a presence, a location, and a prevention type, the membrane comprising a safety indicator providing a visually-perceptible alert at the outermost surface of the membrane, the visually-perceptible alert indicative of at least one safety-related property of the at least one safety feature, wherein the visually-perceptible alert is visually perceptible prior to a breach of the outermost surface of the membrane.
