Patient specific dynamic navigation tracker arm mount apparatus and method

An oral fixture for use in a dynamic navigation system for oral and maxillofacial surgery, comprising:

• a tracker arm, a tracker arm mount, and at least one fastener;
• the tracker arm comprising a threaded portion attached by a connecting arm to the tracker arm mount,
• the threaded portion being configured to receive to an optical tracking device for dynamic navigation;
• the tracker arm mount having a body comprising a top surface and an inner surface designed from computed tomography (CT) corresponding with an outer surface contour of the buccal surface of a jawbone specific to a patient, a plurality of receiving slots configured to receive tabs from dental device components, and a plurality of apertures positioned to receive fasteners while avoiding vital anatomical structures and planned implant locations, wherein the body is configured to fit on the outer surface contour of the jawbone;
• at least one aperture of the plurality of apertures adapted to receive a fastener for attachment of the oral fixture to the jawbone, wherein the tracker arm is adapted to be attached to the jawbone via the tracker arm mount and fastener;
• wherein the aperture adapted to receive the fastener for attachment of the oral fixture to the jawbone is monolithically formed with the tracker arm and tracker arm mount;
• wherein the fastener is capable of engaging the full thickness of the jawbone for secure temporary fixation of the tracker arm and tracker arm mount during oral and maxillofacial surgery.
