Abstract
Compositions and methods for controlling pests are disclosed. The compositions comprise a solid particulate chitin synthesis inhibitor and methods of using the chitin synthesis inhibitor to control a target pest. The chitin synthesis inhibitor is active in its solid form, and provides control of current and future pest generations independent of application timing with respect to insect life stage.
Claims11
A method of controlling a target pest, the method comprising contacting the pest with a composition comprising a pesticidally effective concentration of a chitin synthesis inhibitor;
- wherein the chitin synthesis inhibitor is applied in a solid particulate form;
- wherein size of particles of the solid particulate is about 15 μm or less;
- and
- wherein the composition is free of a solvent that can solubilize the chitin synthesis inhibitor;
- and wherein the chitin synthesis inhibitor, when applied in the form of a solid particulate, exhibits pesticidal activity against the pest.
