Abstract
A grain processing apparatus for a combine harvester has a return pan with a release passage for releasing the harvested crop material before it reaches a grain cleaning system, and a controllable closure for opening and closing the release passage. Thus, the amount of MOG to be processed by the grain cleaning system can be controlled.
Claims11
A grain processing apparatus for a combine harvester, comprising:
- a threshing system;
- a separating system downstream of the threshing system;
- and
- a return pan for receiving harvested crop material from the separating system and for delivering the harvested crop material to a grain cleaning system, wherein the return pan comprises an opening therein forming a release passage for releasing the harvested crop material before it reaches the grain cleaning system, and
- a door moveable between an open condition and a closed condition such that the door forms a controllable closure for opening and closing the release passage, wherein in the open condition the harvested crop material is discharged through the release passage such that harvested crop material does not reach the grain cleaning system;
- and
- an actuator for moving the door between the open condition and the closed condition.
