Handling of user equipment (UE) context information after inter-system handover

A method performed by a second network node of a wireless network for connection re-establishment of a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

• receiving, from a first network node of the wireless network, a request to retrieve context information associated with the UE, wherein:
• the UE's connection has been or is being reestablished with the first network node following the UEs radio link failure (RLF) towards the second network node,
• the wireless network is an Evolved Packet System (EPS), and
• the first and second network nodes are evolved NodeBs (eNBs);
• and
• sending the context information associated with the UE to the first network node, wherein the context information includes an indication that the UE was handed over from a 5G system (5GS) to the EPS due to an IP Multimedia System (IMS) voice fallback from the 5GS to the EPS via a first inter-system handover.

A first network node configured for connection re-establishment of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network, the first network node comprising:

• communication interface circuitry configured to communicate with the UE and with a second network node of the wireless network;
• and
• processing circuitry operatively coupled to the communication interface circuitry, wherein the processing circuitry and the communication interface circuitry are configured to:
• send, to the second network node, a request to retrieve context information associated with the UE, wherein:
• the UE's connection has been or is being reestablished with the first network node following the UEs radio link failure (RLF) towards the second network node,
• the wireless network is an Evolved Packet System (EPS), and
• the first and second network nodes are evolved NodeBs (eNBs);
• and
• receive the context information associated with the UE from the second network node, wherein the context information includes an indication that the UE was handed over from a 5G system (5GS) to the EPS due to an IP Multimedia System (IMS) voice fallback from the 5GS to the EPS via a first inter-system handover.

A second network node configured for connection re-establishment of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network, the second network node comprising:

• communication interface circuitry configured to communicate with the UE and with a first network node of the wireless network;
• and
• processing circuitry operatively coupled to the communication interface circuitry, wherein the processing circuitry and the communication interface circuitry are configured to:
• receive, from the first network node, a request to retrieve context information associated with the UE, wherein:
• the UE's connection has been or is being reestablished with the first network node following the UEs radio link failure (RLF) towards the second network node,
• the wireless network is an Evolved Packet System (EPS), and
• the first and second network nodes are evolved NodeBs (eNBs);
• and
• send the context information associated with the UE to the first network node,
• wherein the context information includes an indication that the UE was handed over from a 5G system (5GS) to the EPS due to an IP Multimedia System (IMS) voice fallback from the 5GS to the EPS via a first inter-system handover.
