Video display device and method for operating same

An image display device comprising:

• a display;
• a transceiver configured to perform communication through a network;
• and
• at least one processor,
• wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• receive image data and subtitle data corresponding to certain content from a first server through the transceiver,
• extract, from the subtitle data, first information indicating a second server providing specific advertisement data, second information indicating the specific advertisement data, third information indicating a first area on a screen displayed through the display in which text corresponding to a subtitle is displayed, and fourth information indicating a second area on the screen in which an advertisement is displayed,
• based on the first information and the second information, request the second server to transmit the specific advertisement data while transmitting data corresponding to the third information and the fourth information to the second server,
• obtain the specific advertisement data including an advertisement having properties corresponding to the third information and the fourth information from the second server through the transceiver, and
• output the screen including at least one of an image frame corresponding to the image data, a subtitle object corresponding to the subtitle data or an advertisement object corresponding to the advertisement included in the specific advertisement data, through the display.
