UE timing advance reporting in NTN

A wireless device capable of operating in a non-terrestrial network (NTN), the wireless device comprising processing circuitry operable to:

• obtain a trigger condition for reporting a timing advance (TA) used by the wireless device for uplink transmission in the NTN, the trigger condition comprising a threshold value for an accumulated amount of TA adjustments;
• obtain a plurality of TA values for uplink transmission in the NTN, the plurality of TA values comprising a reported TA value, the reported TA value comprising a last TA value successfully reported to a network node;
• autonomously obtain a plurality of adjusted TA values for uplink transmission, the plurality of adjusted TA values are based on a propagation delay between the wireless device and a serving satellite of the NTN;
• upon an accumulated amount of TA adjustments associated with a first adjusted TA value not exceeding the threshold value, determine the trigger condition for reporting the TA is not satisfied and refrain from reporting the first adjusted TA value, wherein the accumulated amount of TA adjustments is based on the reported TA value and the first adjusted TA value;
• and
• upon an accumulated amount of TA adjustments associated with a second adjusted TA value exceeding the threshold value, determine the trigger condition for reporting the TA is satisfied, reporting and report the second adjusted TA to a network node, wherein the accumulated amount of TA adjustments is based on the reported TA value and the second adjusted TA value.
