Abstract
A foldable solar panel including at least two solar modules mounted to a substrate. The foldable solar panel includes hook and loop tape to secure the foldable solar panel in the folded configuration. The foldable solar panel includes at least two straps and at least two horizontal rows of webbing operable to attach the foldable solar panel to a load-bearing platform.
Claims19
A solar panel comprising:
- at least two flexible solar modules mounted to a substrate;
- wherein the substrate has a top end, a bottom end, and a fold axis between the top end and the bottom end;
- wherein the at least two flexible solar modules are connected to at least one output connector;
- wherein the at least one output connector is mated to at least one flexible omnidirectional lead;
- wherein the solar panel has a shape defined by the substrate;
- wherein the solar panel includes at least one bypass diode and at least one blocking diode;
- wherein the solar panel includes rows of webbing attached to a piece of material on a back side of the substrate, wherein the piece of material is treated with a water repellant material or UV coating, wherein the piece of material is attached to perimeter webbing permanently attached around a perimeter of the back side of the substrate;
- wherein the back side of the substrate includes at least two straps located at a same end of the back side of the substrate, wherein the at least two straps are attached to the back side of the substrate at a first end of the at least two straps and unattached at a second end of the at least two straps;
- wherein the piece of material includes at least one eyelet;
- wherein a front side of the substrate includes a hook tape and a loop tape located at opposing ends of the front side of the substrate and symmetrically across the fold axis;
- and
- wherein the hook tape and the loop tape are operable to secure the solar panel in a folded position.

A solar panel comprising:
- at least two flexible solar modules mounted to a substrate;
- wherein the substrate has a top end, a bottom end, and a fold axis between the top end and the bottom end;
- wherein the at least two flexible solar modules are connected to at least one output connector;
- wherein the solar panel includes at least one bypass diode and at least one blocking diode;
- wherein the at least one output connector is mated to at least one flexible omnidirectional lead;
- wherein the solar panel includes rows of webbing attached to a flexible material on a back side of the substrate, wherein the flexible material is treated with a water repellant material or UV coating, wherein the flexible material is attached to perimeter webbing permanently attached around a perimeter of the back side of the substrate;
- wherein the back side of the substrate includes at least two straps located at a same end of the back side of the substrate and at least one eyelet, wherein the at least two straps are attached to the back side of the substrate at a first end of the at least two straps and unattached at a second end of the at least two straps;
- wherein a front side of the substrate includes a hook tape and a loop tape located at opposing ends of the front side of the substrate and symmetrically across the fold axis;
- wherein the flexible material and the at least two flexible solar modules are waterproof;
- wherein the hook tape and the loop tape are operable to secure the solar panel in a folded position;
- and
- wherein the at least two flexible solar modules are comprised of an anti-reflection coating.

A solar panel comprising:
- at least two flexible solar modules mounted to a substrate;
- wherein the at least two flexible solar modules are connected to at least one output connector;
- wherein the at least one output connector is mated to at least one flexible omnidirectional lead;
- wherein the solar panel includes at least one blocking diode;
- wherein the at least two flexible solar modules and the at least one output connector are positioned on a front side of the substrate;
- wherein a back side of the substrate includes at least two straps located at a same end of the back side of the substrate, wherein the at least two straps are attached to the back side of the substrate at a first end and unattached at a second end;
- wherein the solar panel includes rows of webbing permanently affixed to a piece of material;
- wherein the at least two straps are operable to weave through the rows of webbing to secure the solar panel to itself;
- wherein the piece of material is permanently affixed to a perimeter webbing on a top end of the substrate, wherein the perimeter webbing is permanently affixed to the top end of the substrate;
- wherein the piece of material includes at least one eyelet;
- wherein the solar panel is operable to be in a folded position or an unfolded position;
- and
- wherein the at least two straps are operable to secure the solar panel in the folded position.
