Abstract
A Brushless Direct-Current (BLDC) motor is provided for a power tool, including a stator comprising a set of coils, a rotor configured to rotate with respect to the stator, power supply lines, terminals secured to the stator outer surface of the stator, and a Hall circuit board. The terminals extend axially on the outer surface of the stator. A radial member is oriented radially adjacent a second side of stator proximate an axial end of the of coils, the radial member including a through-hole through which the rotor shaft extends, and discrete conductive routings electrically coupled to the coils and making electric contact with the coils at at least three distinct contact points to electrically connect the coils in a delta configuration.
Claims9
A power tool comprising:
- a housing including a motor housing portion, a handle portion extending downwardly from the motor housing portion in a normal orientation of the power tool, and a battery receptacle disposed at a foot of the handle portion to receive a removeable battery pack therein;
- and
- a brushless Direct-Current (BLDC) motor housed inside the motor housing portion, the motor comprising:
- a stator comprising a stator core having a substantially cylindrical outer surface and a plurality of teeth extending radially inwardly from the stator core, and a plurality of coils wound around the plurality of teeth;
- a rotor configured to rotate with respect to the stator and mounted on a rotor shaft extending along a longitudinal axis;
- a plurality of power-supply lines arranged to supply electric current to the plurality of coils;
- a plurality of terminals extending axially along the outer surface of the stator core, wherein each of the terminals includes a first end that connects to a magnet wire coupled to at least one of the plurality of coils and a second end opposite the first end that connects to one of the plurality of power-supply lines;
- a circuit board oriented radially adjacent a first side of the stator and including a plurality of Hall sensors in magnetic interface with the rotor;
- and
- a radial member oriented radially adjacent a second side of stator proximate an axial end of the plurality of coils, the radial member including a through-hole through which the rotor shaft extends, and a plurality of discrete conductive routings electrically coupled to the plurality of coils and making electric contact with the plurality of coils at at least three distinct contact points to electrically connect the plurality of coils in a delta configuration.
