Abstract
Compositions and methods for creating in situ capacitors, micro-capacitors, battery like applications, and chipless memory chips are provided. The methods and compositions all comprise the use of magnetically-alignable particles. In various applications herein the particles may be nonconductive, in another aspect, the particles are conductive. The functional capacitors entail the ferromagnetic particles and a dielectric material or a non-conductive coating.
Claims6
A capacitor comprising:
- a plurality of discrete columns of electrically-conductive, magnetically-alignable particles which are magnetically-aligned in a z-axis direction, and electrically isolated along the x- and y-axes;
- a plurality of placed ferromagnetic interposers;
- and
- a dielectric resin;
- wherein the plurality of placed ferromagnetic interposers magnetically form concentrated clusters of the plurality of columns into one or more densely-packed, patterned regions of the capacitor that substantially corresponds to the vicinity area of ferromagnetic interposers of the plurality of ferromagnetic interposers, each such region configured to provide an electrical charge such that each region of electrically-conductive columns provides the opposite electrical charge as each region directly adjacent thereto,
- wherein each column and each region is separated and electrically isolated from each column and each region directly adjacent thereto by a cured dielectric resin surrounding each of the plurality of columns;
- wherein the dielectric resin is cured after the columns are magnetically aligned in the z-axis direction.
