Abstract
A method for providing a detection output which is representative for the presence of a molecule of interest in a sample, wherein the method is a computer implemented method including the steps of: providing assay data, wherein said assay data comprises a plurality of data values for a plurality of time points being indicative for at least one detection curve obtained from an assay containing said sample, determining, from said assay data, a value of a second derivative of said detection curve, comparing said determined value of the second derivative with a predetermined non-zero threshold, and providing said detection output if, following from said comparison, said determined value of the second derivative exceeds said threshold.

A computer-implemented method for providing a detection output which is representative for the presence of a molecule of interest in a sample, the method being performed by a detection system, comprising the steps of:
- providing assay data, wherein said assay data comprises a plurality of data values for a plurality of time points being indicative for at least one detection curve obtained from an assay containing said sample;
- determining, from said assay data, a value of a second derivative of said detection curve;
- comparing said determined value of the second derivative with a predetermined non-zero threshold, and;
- providing said detection output in response to determining that an absolute value of said determined value of the second derivative exceeds said threshold, wherein said providing of the detection output enables faster detection of the presence of the molecule of interest relative to detection based on the detection curve without the use of said comparison of said second derivative and said threshold.
