Abstract
A system that provides a player a benefit based on location data associated with the player and game play history data associated with the player.
Claims20
A device comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor in association with a session currently occurring at an electronic gaming machine operating independent of the device, cause the processor to:
- receive historical location data of a mobile device operating independent of the device, wherein the historical location data of the mobile device was determined, based on at least one tracked location of the mobile device that is different from a location of the electronic gaming machine, prior to any play of any game associated with the session currently occurring at the electronic gaming machine, and
- responsive to a receipt of data associated with an opening of an access door of the electronic gaming machine being detected via a security monitoring circuit of the electronic gaming machines:
- disable causing any customizations of the electronic gaming machine based on the received historical location data of the mobile device, and
- following a receipt of data associated with at least a closing of the access door of the electronic gaming machine detected via the security monitoring circuit of the electronic gaming machine:
- enable causing a customization of the electronic gaming machine based on the received historical location data of the mobile device,
- responsive to the received historical location data of the mobile device comprising first historical location data, cause a first customization of the electronic gaming machine to occur, and
- responsive to the received historical location data of the mobile device comprising second, different historical location data, cause a second, different customization of the electronic gaming machine to occur.

A device comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor in association with a current session occurring at an electronic gaming machine operating independent of the device, cause the processor to:
- receive historical location data of a mobile device operating independent of the device, wherein the historical location data of the mobile device was determined, based on at least one tracked location of the mobile device that is different from a location of the electronic gaming machine, prior to any play of any game associated with the current session occurring at the electronic gaming machine,
- receive historical game play data, wherein the historical game play data is associated with at least one play of at least one game of a prior gaming session that occurred prior to the current session, and
- responsive to a receipt of data associated with an opening of an access door of the electronic gaming machine being detected via a security monitoring circuit of the electronic gaming machines:
- disable causing any modifications to an operation of the electronic gaming machine, and
- following a receipt of data associated with at least a closing of the access door of the electronic gaming machine detected via the security monitoring circuit of the electronic gaming machine:
- enable causing any modifications to the operation of the electronic gaming machine,
- determine, based on the received historical location data, the received historical game play data and an occurrence of a designated event in association with the current session, a modification to an operation of the electronic gaming machine, and
- communicate data that results in a display device displaying the determined modification to the operation of the electronic gaming machine.

A method of operating a device, the method comprising:
- receiving historical location data of a mobile device operating independent of the device, wherein the historical location data of the mobile device was determined, based on at least one tracked location of the mobile device that is different from a location of an electronic gaming machine operating independent of the device, prior to any play of any game associated with a session currently occurring at the electronic gaming machine,
- responsive to a receipt of data associated with an opening of an access door of the electronic gaming machine being detected via a security monitoring circuit of the electronic gaming machines:
- disabling, by a processor, causing any customizations of the electronic gaming machine based on the received historical location data of the mobile device, and
- following a receipt of data associated with at least a closing of the access door of the electronic gaming machine detected via the security monitoring circuit of the electronic gaming machine:
- enabling, by the processor, causing a customization of the electronic gaming machine based on the received historical location data of the mobile device,
- responsive to the received historical location data of the mobile device comprising first historical location data, causing, by the processor, a first customization of the electronic gaming machine to occur, and
- responsive to the received historical location data of the mobile device comprising second, different historical location data, causing, by the processor, a second, different customization of the electronic gaming machine to occur.
