Modular AI agent system with dynamic skill registry and resource management for enterprise applications

A computer-implemented method for modular artificial intelligence (AI) agent instance operation using skills and knowledge resources, comprising:

• maintaining a skill registry as an independent data store containing available skills, each skill comprising a distinct executable capability with defined parameters and operational scope accessible to AI agent instances within an organization;
• maintaining a knowledge resource registry as a separate independent data store from the skill registry containing knowledge resources accessible to AI agent instances based on associated access credentials, wherein each knowledge resource comprises a distinct information repository with defined access parameters specifying data retrieval permissions, content boundaries, and information scope;
• receiving user input requesting performance of a task;
• instantiating an AI agent instance from a plurality of AI agent instances operating within the organization;
• causing the instantiated AI agent instance to identify from the skill registry available skills relevant to the requested task;
• causing the instantiated AI agent instance to identify from the knowledge resource registry accessible knowledge resources based on access credentials validated by a credential management system and associated with the instantiated AI agent instance;
• causing the instantiated AI agent instance to select from the identified available skills those skills needed for the requested task, and to dynamically incorporate the selected skills as operational capabilities of the instantiated AI agent instance based on the requested task;
• and
• causing the instantiated AI agent instance to execute operations using the selected skills as dynamically incorporated operational capabilities of the instantiated AI agent instance and the accessible knowledge resources to generate a response to the user input-, wherein the selected skills are executed within isolated execution environments separate from core logic of the instantiated AI agent instance.
