Abstract
A watch component is formed of a metal member formed into a component shape. A surface of the metal member includes a coated region being coated with a coating material having a color different from a material color of the metal member and an exposed region from which the material color of the metal member is exposed. A boundary part between the coated region and the exposed region forms a blade-pattern-like design.
Claims5
A method for manufacturing a watch component, the method comprising:
- shaping Tamahagane steel into a watch component shape;
- forming an oxide film on a surface of the Tamahagane steel, the surface being a coated region which is coated with the oxide film;
- peeling a part of the oxide film to form an exposed region from which a material color of the Tamahagane steel is exposed;
- and
- forming a blade-pattern design at a boundary part between the coated region and the exposed region,
- wherein the coated region includes a first coated region that is a region modeled after a ridge line of a Japanese sword and has a first color, and a second coated region that is a region modeled after a blade of the Japanese sword and has a second color that is lighter than the first coated region, and
- wherein a boundary part between the second coated region and the exposed region forms the blade-pattern design that includes the first coated region and the second coated region, and is a design formed by a difference of the colors in each of the first coated region, the second coated region, and the exposed region.
