Contactor for voltage isolation and breakdown testing

A system comprising:

• a contactor for applying a test voltage across a device, the contactor including:
• a test site including a plurality of electrical contacts configured to make an electrical connection with the device when the device is positioned at the test site;
• a housing including a first housing portion and a second housing portion, the first housing portion and the second housing portion being configured to selectively engage and disengage from each other, the first housing portion and the second housing portion defining a closed chamber when engaged, the test site being within the closed chamber;
• a gas inlet configured to supply pressurized gas for pressurizing the closed chamber when the first housing portion and the second housing portion are engaged;
• a track configured to guide the device to and from the test site, a portion of the track constituting a segment of the first housing portion;
• a first gasket configured to form a seal between the portion of the track and a remainder of the first housing portion;
• and
• a second gasket configured to form a seal between the portion of the track and the second housing portion;
• and
• a device test handler for feeding the device into the contactor.

A method of testing a breakdown voltage of a device, the method comprising:

• guiding the device down a track to a test site, the test site including a plurality of electrical contacts configured to make an electrical connection with the device;
• engaging a first housing portion and a second housing portion to form a closed chamber, the test site being within the closed chamber;
• pressurizing the closed chamber with a gas;
• applying a test voltage across the device with the device in the pressurized closed chamber for isolation and breakdown testing;
• disengaging the first housing portion from the second housing portion to open the closed chamber and release the pressurized gas after completion of the isolation and breakdown testing;
• and
• guiding the device down the track away from the test site,
• wherein a portion of the track constitutes a segment of the first housing portion;
• wherein a first gasket is positioned between the portion of the track and a remainder of the first housing portion to form a seal therebetween;
• and
• a second gasket is positioned between the portion of the track and the second housing portion to form a seal therebetween.
