Abstract
A shotgun balancer for use in a double barreled shotgun. The balancer can be inserted into a barrel that is not to be loaded with a shell and thus can be used to help attain a comfortable balance of the shotgun. In addition, adding a weight to a gun helps reduce the recoil felt by the shooter. The shotgun balancer can also be used as a training aid, as by increasing the weight of the shotgun a user can build up strength in his/her relevant muscles. Once the weight is removed, the user will find that the shotgun is easier to lift, move and swing. The balancer can have a rod and one or more adjustable weights which can slide along the rod in order to adjust the weight distribution of the balancer.

- and
- a screw inside the weight configured to secure the weight to the rod,
- wherein the rod further comprises:
- a hollow inner section comprising a first end of the inner section and a second end of the inner section opposite the first end of the inner section;
- a smaller section of the rod comprising the second end of the inner section, wherein the smaller section has a smaller diameter than a remaining portion of the rod;
- and
- a spring connecting the first end of the inner section to the second end of the inner section, configured to enable the smaller section to move away from the first end of the inner section.
A method, comprising:

- a weight around the rod, the weight configured to be slidable along the rod;
- and
- a screw inside the weight configured to secure the weight to the rod,
- wherein the rod further comprises:
- a hollow inner section comprising a first end of the inner section and a second end of the inner section opposite the first end of the inner section;
- a smaller section of the rod comprising the second end of the inner section, wherein the smaller section has a smaller diameter than a remaining portion of the rod;
