Abstract
A polypeptide having a glycine-glycine bond-degrading activity and an improved microbicidal activity, and a method for using the same. A polypeptide having an amino acid sequence having at least 80% identity to SEQ ID NO: 2, the polypeptide having a modification involving one or more amino acid residues at positions 116, 170, 172, 173, 174, 178, and/or 179 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or a position corresponding thereto, where the polypeptide has a glycine-glycine bond-degrading activity.
Claims7
A polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence having at least 80% identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 2, wherein the polypeptide has a modification, relative to SEQ ID NO:
- 2, selected from the group consisting of (i), (ii) and (iii):
- (i) substitution of an amino acid residue at position 116 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or a position corresponding thereto with His;
- (ii) substitution of an amino acid residue at position 116 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or a position corresponding thereto with Asn;
- and
- (iii) substitution of an amino acid residue at position 116 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or a position corresponding thereto with His, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 170 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or a position corresponding thereto with Ser, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 172 or a position corresponding thereto with Trp, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 173 or a position corresponding thereto with Phe, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 174 or a position corresponding thereto with Thr, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 178 or a position corresponding thereto with His, and deletion of an amino acid residue at position 179 or a position corresponding thereto;
- the polypeptide having a glycine-glycine bond-degrading activity.
A polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence having at least 90% identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 2, wherein the polypeptide has a modification, relative to SEQ ID NO:
- 2, selected from the group consisting of (i) and (ii):
- (i) substitution of an amino acid residue at position 170 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or a position corresponding thereto with Ser, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 172 or a position corresponding thereto with Trp, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 173 or a position corresponding thereto with Phe, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 174 or a position corresponding thereto with Thr, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 178 or a position corresponding thereto with His, and deletion of an amino acid residue at position 179 or a position corresponding thereto;
- and
- (ii) substitution of an amino acid residue at position 170 in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or a position corresponding thereto with Ser, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 172 or a position corresponding thereto with Trp, substitution of an amino acid residue at position 173 or a position corresponding thereto with Phe, and substitution of an amino acid residue at position 174 or a position corresponding thereto with Thr;
- the polypeptide having a glycine-glycine bond-degrading activity, and
- wherein the polypeptide has an improved antimicrobial activity as compared with the corresponding polypeptide without the respective substitution.
