Methods and systems for guiding position adjustment of a passenger with visual impairment in a transportation vehicle

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions for performing a method, comprising machine executable code which when executed by at least one machine, causes the machine to:

• determine a visual impairment parameter indicating a degree of visual impairment of a passenger of a passenger seat associated with the seat device;
• determine a passenger location of the passenger and a location of a target;
• estimate an initial facing direction toward which the passenger faces;
• determine a position adjustment parameter indicating a position adjustment to be made by the passenger of the passenger seat to face the target, based on the passenger location, the location of the target, and the initial facing direction;
• output a position adjustment instruction according to the position adjustment parameter, the position adjustment instruction including at least an audio instruction in response to the visual impairment parameter indicating visual impairment of the passenger;
• and
• iteratively update, by the passenger position guide module, the position adjustment parameter based on one or more detected changes in a facing direction toward which the passenger faces until the facing direction is within a predetermined range from the location of the target;
• and
• output, via the at least the audio output device, an updated position adjustment instruction according to the updated position adjustment parameter, the updated position adjustment instruction including at least an updated audio instruction in response to the visual impairment parameter indicating visual impairment of the passenger.

A system, comprising:

• a memory containing machine readable medium comprising machine executable code having stored thereon instructions;
• and a processor coupled to the memory to execute the machine executable code to:
• determine a visual impairment parameter indicating a degree of visual impairment of a passenger of a passenger seat associated with the seat device;
• determine a passenger location of the passenger and a location of a target;
• estimate an initial facing direction toward which the passenger faces;
• determine a position adjustment parameter indicating a position adjustment to be made by the passenger of the passenger seat to face the target, based on the passenger location, the location of the target, and the initial facing direction;
• output a position adjustment instruction according to the position adjustment parameter, the position adjustment instruction including at least an audio instruction in response to the visual impairment parameter indicating visual impairment of the passenger;
• and
• iteratively update, by the passenger position guide module, the position adjustment parameter based on one or more detected changes in a facing direction toward which the passenger faces until the facing direction is within a predetermined range from the location of the target;
• and
• output, via the at least the audio output device, an updated position adjustment instruction according to the updated position adjustment parameter, the updated position adjustment instruction including at least an updated audio instruction in response to the visual impairment parameter indicating visual impairment of the passenger.
