Abstract
A cowling is for an outboard marine drive. The cowling has a top cowl defining a cowling interior, a lid on the top cowl, the lid being movable (e.g. pivotable or slidable) into and between an open position providing access to the cowling interior and a closed position enclosing the cowling interior, and a trough system located below the lid, the trough system being configured to drain water by gravity from the lid and the top cowl.
Claims30
A cowling for an outboard marine drive, the cowling extending from a top to a bottom in an axial direction, from a front to a rear in a longitudinal direction which is perpendicular to the axial direction, and from a port side to a starboard side in a lateral direction which is perpendicular to the axial direction and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the cowling comprising:
- a top cowl defining a cowling interior;
- a lid on the top cowl, the lid being movable into and between an open position providing access to the cowling interior and a closed position enclosing the cowling interior;
- and
- a trough system located below the lid, the trough system being configured to drain water by gravity from the lid and the top cowl.
An outboard marine drive which extends from a top to a bottom in an axial direction, from a front to a rear in a longitudinal direction which is perpendicular to the axial direction, and from a port side to a starboard side in a lateral direction which is perpendicular to the axial direction and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the outboard marine drive being steerable about an axial steering axis and being trimmable about a lateral trim axis, the outboard marine drive comprising:
- a cowling comprising a top cowl defining a cowling interior;
- a lid on the top cowl, the lid being movable into and between an open position providing access to the cowling interior and a closed position enclosing the cowling interior;
- and
- a trough system located below the lid, the trough system being configured to drain water by gravity from the lid and the top cowl.
