Abstract
Provided a thermal cycler. In a case in which plurality of heat sinks participate in thermal control of a plurality of thermally independent sample holders for reliable nucleic acid reactions of the plurality of sample holder, a barrier is present between the adjacent heat sinks.
Claims4
A thermal cycler comprising a sample holder assembly, wherein the sample holder assembly comprises:
- a plurality of sample holders, wherein each of the plurality of sample holders has a hole configured to receive a sample reaction vessel, and wherein a temperature of each of the plurality of sample holders is configured to be independently controlled by a controller;
- a plurality of peltiers, wherein at least one peltier of the plurality of peltiers is thermally coupled to a bottom surface of each of the plurality of sample holders;
- a plurality of heat sinks, wherein at least one heat sink of the plurality of heat sinks is thermally coupled to a bottom surface of each of the plurality of peltiers;
- a plurality of cooling fans configured to supply airflow toward the plurality of heat sinks, wherein the plurality of cooling fans are disposed below or adjacent to the plurality of heat sinks;
- a sample holder accommodating unit including a receiving portion defined by a frame structure open at a top and a bottom, the plurality of sample holders being received in the receiving portion;
- wherein the receiving portion includes a screen interposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of sample holders, the screen separating the adjacent sample holders, wherein the screen is a thermal insulator;
- and
- a solid barrier connected to the screen and located below the screen, wherein the solid barrier is a thermal insulator positioned between adjacent heat sinks of the plurality of heat sinks, and wherein the adjacent heat sinks are thermally coupled to different sample holders among the plurality of sample holders.
