Abstract
A device for dynamically sealing intubation of a hollow organ is disclosed. The device includes a shaft-shaped tube configured to be inserted into the hollow organ. The shaft-shaped tube has a primary lumen that provides access through the hollow organ or to the hollow organ. The device includes an intracorporeal sealing balloon that surrounds a distal region of the shaft-shaped tube. The intracorporeal sealing balloon is configured to operate as a cuff that dynamically seals the hollow organ. One or more secondary lumens for filling the intracorporeal sealing balloon are integrated into a wall of a proximal region of the shaft-shaped tube.
Claims24
A device for dynamically sealing intubation of a hollow organ, the device comprising:
- a shaft-shaped tube configured to be inserted into the hollow organ, the shaft-shaped tube having a primary lumen that is configured to provide access through the hollow organ or to the hollow organ;
- and
- an intracorporeal sealing balloon that surrounds a distal region of the shaft-shaped tube, wherein the intracorporeal sealing balloon is configured to operate as a cuff that dynamically seals the hollow organ,
- wherein one or more secondary lumens for filling the intracorporeal sealing balloon are integrated into a wall of a proximal region of the shaft-shaped tube,
- wherein at an extracorporeal filling tube that communicates with the one or more secondary lumens, a control device regulates a pressure within the intracorporeal sealing balloon such that:
- when a volume of the hollow organ increases, a filling medium flows into the intracorporeal sealing balloon to increase a volume of the intracorporeal sealing balloon, and
- when the volume of the hollow organ decreases, the filling medium flows out of the intracorporeal sealing balloon to decrease the volume of the intracorporeal sealing balloon,
- wherein a valve is disposed in the extracorporeal filling tube, and wherein the valve permits a flow of the filling medium from an extracorporeal reservoir balloon toward the intracorporeal sealing balloon in the event that the pressure drops.
A method for dynamically sealing intubation of a hollow organ, the method comprising:
- inserting a device into the hollow organ, the device comprising:
- a shaft-shaped tube configured to be inserted into the hollow organ, the shaft-shaped tube having a primary lumen that provides access through the hollow organ or to the hollow organ;
- and
- an intracorporeal sealing balloon that surrounds a distal region of the shaft-shaped tube, the intracorporeal sealing balloon configured to operate as a cuff that dynamically seals the hollow organ,
- wherein one or more secondary lumens for filling the intracorporeal sealing balloon are integrated into a wall of a proximal region of the shaft-shaped tube,
- wherein at an extracorporeal filling tube that communicates with the one or more secondary lumens, a control device regulates a pressure within the intracorporeal sealing balloon such that:
