Abstract
Provided is a method of treating patients with Cluster Headache (CH) including chronic Cluster Headache (cCH) comprising intranasal administration to a patient in need thereof of an aqueous composition, e.g., pharmaceutical composition, comprising a therapeutically effective amount of ketamine, which may reduce or eliminate side effects of ketamine when used in the treatment of Cluster Headache, and to a composition, e.g., pharmaceutical composition, comprising a therapeutically effective amount of ketamine for use in the treatment of Cluster Headache, wherein the composition is in a nasal dosage form such as a nasal spray.
Claims14
A method of treating a patient suffering from chronic cluster headache comprising intranasally self-administering to said patient an aqueous solution comprising dissolved ketamine in a range from 50 mg/mL to 200 mg/mL based on the total volume of the aqueous solution, wherein the dissolved ketamine is administered in an amount corresponding to 15 mg ketamine in each dose using a nasal spray having a one-dose container comprising 15 mg ketamine, wherein the intranasal administration of the aqueous solution comprises administration of a total of from 3 doses containing 15 mg ketamine in each dose using one dose containers (45 mg total) to 5 doses containing 15 mg ketamine in each dose using one-dose containers (75 mg total), wherein doses are administered at time intervals of 6-15 minutes, wherein ketamine is administered as the only active pharmaceutical ingredient for the treatment of chronic cluster headache, and wherein the intranasal administration is performed upon onset of a cluster headache episode.
