Abstract
Diagnostic apparatus includes a plurality of antennas, which are configured to be disposed at different, respective locations on a thorax of a living body so as to direct radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic waves from different, respective directions toward a heart in the body and to output RF signals responsively to the waves that are scattered from the heart. Processing circuitry is configured to process the RF signals over time so as to provide a multi-dimensional measurement of a movement of the heart.
Claims14
A diagnostic apparatus for assessing a fluid content of a lung of a patient, the diagnostic apparatus comprising
- a patch antenna unit configured to be worn on an outer surface of a thorax of the patient, the patch antenna unit comprising
- one or more antennas configured to direct radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic waves towards the lung of the patient and to output RF signals responsively to reflected waves received by the one or more antennas;
- and
- one or more electrodes configured to receive electrocardiogram (ECG) signals from the outer surface of the thorax of the patient;
- and
- processing circuitry operatively connected to the one or more antennas and the one or more electrodes and configured to
- receive the ECG signals from the one or more electrodes;
- receive the RF signals from the one or more antennas;
- process the RF signals over time so as to measure an RF path characteristic of the RF electromagnetic waves;
- and
- determine a fluid content of the lung from at least the RF path characteristic of the RF electromagnetic waves.
