Abstract
A method for transmitting wireless power according to one embodiment of the present specification involves: receiving information about received power values for two or more correction points for power correction from a device for receiving wireless power; constructing a power correction curve, for detecting foreign substances, on the basis of the information about the received power values; and transmitting a data packet requesting initiation of a power correction protocol for updating the power correction curve.
Claims13
A wireless power transmitter, comprising:
- a power converter related to transferring a wireless power to a wireless power receiver;
- and
- a controller related to controlling the wireless power,
- wherein the wireless power transmitter:
- initiates a digital ping to solicit a response from the wireless power receiver,
- receives the response from the wireless power receiver,
- transmits, to the wireless power receiver, a data packet related to a calibration at a time determined by the wireless power transmitter based on a foreign object being suspected near the wireless power receiver during a power transfer phase, and
- performs one of a foreign object detection (FOD), an extended calibration or a recalibration after transmitting the data packet,
- wherein the data packet includes request information indicating a type of operation requested by the wireless power transmitter, and
- wherein the request information has a first value for requesting the extended calibration, a second value requesting the recalibration and a third value for requesting a slot for the FOD during the power transfer phase.
A method for transferring a wireless power to a wireless power receiver, the method performed by a wireless power transmitter and comprising:
- initiating a digital ping to solicit a response from the wireless power receiver;
- receiving the response from the wireless power receiver;
- transmitting, to the wireless power receiver, a data packet related to a calibration at a time determined by the wireless power transmitter based on a foreign object being suspected near the wireless power receiver during a power transfer phase;
- and
- performing one of a foreign object detection (FOD), an extended calibration or a recalibration after transmitting the data packet,
- wherein the data packet includes request information indicating a type of operation requested by the wireless power transmitter, and
- wherein the request information has a first value for requesting the extended calibration, a second value requesting the recalibration and a third value for requesting a slot for the FOD during the power transfer phase.
A wireless power receiver, comprising:
- a power pickup related to receiving wireless power from a wireless power transmitter;
- and
- a controller related to controlling the wireless power,
- wherein the wireless power receiver:
- receives a digital ping to solicit a response from the wireless power receiver,
- transmits the response to the wireless power transmitter,
- receives, from the wireless power transmitter, a data packet related to a calibration at a time determined by the wireless power transmitter based on a foreign object being suspected near the wireless power receiver during a power transfer phase, and
- performs one of a foreign object detection (FOD), an extended calibration or a recalibration after receiving the data packet,
- wherein the data packet includes request information indicating a type of operation requested by the wireless power transmitter, and
- wherein the request information has a first value for requesting the extended calibration, a second value requesting the recalibration and a third value for requesting a slot for the FOD during the power transfer phase.
