Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to providing pilots with timely information to allow for better decision making and improved safety during the piloting of a flight. The systems and methods described herein can employ a collection of algorithms that can take disparate information, process it, and synthesize it into meaningful information for a pilot, flight crew, other flight systems, and/or other algorithms to consume.
Claims15
A system, comprising:
- an aircraft comprising a single-pilot cockpit;
- a digital copilot controller;
- one or more processors;
- memory;
- and
- one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for causing the digital copilot controller to:
- determine a phase of flight for the aircraft;
- determine whether the determined phase of flight is allowable given one or more previously identified phases of flight;
- in response to determining that the phase of flight for the aircraft is takeoff, continuously notify the single-pilot cockpit of the aircraft of an amount of runway remaining based on the takeoff phase of flight;
- in response to determining that the phase of flight for the aircraft is arrival, determine if an approach airport is the same as an intended airport destination;
- and
- in response to determining that the phase of flight for the aircraft is landing, continuously notify the single-pilot cockpit of the aircraft of an amount of runway remaining based on the landing phase of flight.
