Abstract
Performing disaster recovery in a cloud-based storage system, including: creating, by a storage system a snapshot of a dataset; uploading, from the storage system to a cloud computing environment, the snapshot; storing, by the cloud computing environment, the snapshot; detecting, by the cloud computing environment, that the dataset is not available on the storage system; and creating, by the cloud computing environment using the snapshot that is stored within the cloud computing environment, a cloud-based storage system that includes the dataset.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- instantiating a virtual storage system utilizing resources of a cloud computing platform;
- and
- copying, in response to a detected change in availability of a dataset stored by external storage system that is distinct from the cloud computing platform, one or more portions of the dataset into local instance stores associated with at least one virtual server operating in support of the virtual storage system, wherein the copied one or more portions are usable to recreate the dataset.
A system comprising:
- a memory;
- a processing device operably connected to the memory, configured to:
- instantiate a virtual storage system utilizing resources of a cloud computing platform;
- and
- copy, in response to a detected change in availability of a dataset stored by external storage system that is distinct from the cloud computing platform, one or more portions of the dataset into local instance stores associated with at least one virtual server operating in support of the virtual storage system, wherein the copied one or more portions are usable to recreate the dataset.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause a processing device to:
- instantiate a virtual storage system utilizing resources of a cloud computing platform;
- and
- copy, in response to a detected change in availability of a dataset stored by external storage system that is distinct from the cloud computing platform, one or more portions of the dataset into local instance stores associated with at least one virtual server operating in support of the virtual storage system, wherein the copied one or more portions are usable to recreate the dataset.
