Information processing apparatus capable of BLE communication, control method therefor, and storage medium storing control program therefor

A control method for an image forming apparatus including at least a printing function executable with a printing process, the control method comprising:

• obtaining communication information from a mobile terminal using first wireless communication that uses a first wireless communication protocol, the communication information being necessary for establishing second wireless communication that uses a second wireless communication protocol different from the first wireless communication protocol;
• disconnecting the first wireless communication connection with the mobile terminal in response to receiving the communication information necessary for the second wireless communication;
• establishing the second wireless communication with the mobile terminal;
• receiving print job data from the mobile terminal using a third wireless communication that uses a third wireless communication protocol different from the first and second wireless communication protocols, wherein:
• the print job data includes ranging information for specifying the mobile terminal;
• executing the printing process based on the print job data received from the mobile terminal;
• measuring a distance between the image forming apparatus and the mobile terminal using the ranging information included in the print job data to perform the second wireless communication with the mobile terminal;
• and
• notifying, in a case where an error relating to the printing process occurs, an error message indicative of the error by:
• displaying on a display of a user interface of the image forming apparatus, in a case where the measured distance is less than a preset threshold;
• and
• transmitting to the mobile terminal using a wireless communication protocol other than the first wireless communication protocol, in a case where the measured distance is equal to or greater than the preset threshold.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a control program executable by a computer to execute a control method for an image forming apparatus including at least a printing function executable with a printing process, the control method comprising:

• obtaining communication information from a mobile terminal using first wireless communication that uses a first wireless communication protocol, the communication information being necessary for establishing second wireless communication that uses a second wireless communication protocol different from the first wireless communication protocol;
• disconnecting the first wireless communication connection with the mobile terminal in response to receiving the communication information necessary for the second wireless communication;
• establishing the second wireless communication with the mobile terminal;
• receiving print job data from the mobile terminal using a third wireless communication that uses a third wireless communication protocol different from the first and second wireless communication protocols, wherein:
• the print job data includes ranging information for specifying the mobile terminal;
• executing the printing process based on the print job data received from the mobile terminal;
• measuring a distance between the image forming apparatus and the mobile terminal using the ranging information included in the print job data to perform the second wireless communication with the mobile terminal;
• and
• notifying, in a case where an error relating to the printing process occurs, an error message indicative of the error by:
• displaying on a display of a user interface of the image forming apparatus, in a case where the measured distance is less than a preset threshold;
• and
• transmitting to the mobile terminal using a wireless communication protocol other than the first wireless communication protocol in a case where the measured distance is equal to or greater than the preset threshold.
