Method for hydraulic fracturing of conventional and unconventional reservoirs by introducing energized fluid

A method for hydraulically fracturing a subterranean formation traversed by a wellbore, the method comprising:

• initiating a fracture in the subterranean formation via injection of a fracture-initiation fluid comprising a gelling agent, water, and nitrogen gas;
• injecting a base fluid into the subterranean formation after the fracture is initiated, the base fluid comprising the gelling agent and water;
• and
• injecting a foam fluid into the subterranean formation after the fracture is initiated, the foam fluid comprising the gelling agent, water, the nitrogen gas, and a proppant, wherein injection of the foam fluid alternates with injection of the base fluid via pulse injections of the base fluid and pulse injections of the foam fluid;
• wherein the pulse injections of the foam fluid have a duration from about 5 seconds to about 300 seconds and form agglomerated proppant regions,
• wherein the pulse injections of the base fluid have a duration from about 5 seconds to about 300 seconds and form channels adjacent to the agglomerated proppant regions, the agglomerated proppant regions having a higher proppant concentration than the channels, the channels having a faster flowback than the agglomerated proppant regions,
• wherein the gelling agent comprises polyacrylamide, polyacrylamide derivatives, guar, guar derivatives, viscoelastic surfactant, xanthan gum, hydroxyethyl cellulose, or any combination thereof,
• wherein the foam fluid further comprises a foaming agent, fibers, or any combination thereof,
• wherein the proppant comprises silica sand, resin-coated sands, sintered ceramic materials, fused synthetic ceramic materials, lightweight nut shells, or any combination thereof,
• wherein the proppant is coated, and
• wherein the base fluid further comprises a foam stability control agent.
