Modular post-tensioned shear resisting system and method of installation

A modular post-tensioned shear system, the system comprising:

• two or more modular sections stacked on top of each other, wherein each of the two or more modular sections comprise:
• two boundary hollow structural section (HSS) members, wherein each boundary HSS member has four sides;
• a plurality of coupling members operatively coupled to each HSS member;
• a form wall having lattice members operatively coupled between the two boundary HSS members by the plurality of coupling members;
• and
• a post tensioning assembly in each of the two boundary HSS members;
• wherein a lower end of each of the two boundary HSS members of an upper module is operatively coupled to an upper end of the two boundary HSS members of a lower module.

A modular post-tensioned shear system, the system comprising:

• two or more modular sections stacked on top of each other, wherein each of the two or more modular sections comprise:
• two boundary hollow structural section (HSS) members;
• a form wall comprising:
• a plurality of wall members having:
• two or more vertical members;
• two or more longitudinal members operatively coupled between the vertical members;
• two or more transverse members operatively coupled between the longitudinal members;
• and
• one or more panels operatively coupled to the longitudinal members;
• wherein the form wall is operatively coupled between the two boundary HSS members through the two or more vertical members;
• and
• a post tensioning assembly in each of the two boundary HSS members;
• wherein a lower end of each of the two boundary HSS members of an upper module is operatively coupled to an upper end of the two boundary HSS members of a lower module.

A modular post-tensioned shear system, the system comprising:

• two or more modular sections stacked on top of each other, wherein each of the two or more modular sections comprise:
• two boundary hollow structural section (HSS) members;
• a form wall operatively coupled between the two boundary HSS members;
• and
• a post tensioning assembly in each of the two boundary HSS members;
• one or more energy dissipation devices, wherein at least one energy dissipation device comprises a wall energy dissipation device;
• wherein the form wall of at least one of the two or more modular sections further comprises:
• a first intermediate HSS member operatively coupled to a first wall portion of the form wall and a first end of the wall energy dissipation device;
• and
• a second intermediate HSS member operatively coupled to a second end of the wall energy dissipation device and a second wall portion of the form wall;
• and
• wherein a lower end of each of the two boundary HSS members of an upper module is operatively coupled to an upper end of the two boundary HSS members of a lower module.
