Abstract
The present invention relates to systems and methods for estimating prosthetic valve expansion diameter, and in particular, for system and methods for analyzing images acquired during prosthetic valve expansion, to identify structural components of the valve, determine dimensions thereof, and estimate at least one outer diameter of the prosthetic valve, and potentially a plurality of outer diameter along different axial positions of the prosthetic valve.
Claims22
A method of estimating at least one outer diameter of a prosthetic valve during an expansion procedure of the prosthetic valve at a target implantation site, comprising:
- acquiring, by an imaging device, an image of the prosthetic valve during the expansion procedure;
- analyzing, by a control circuitry, the image to determine at least one lateral width during the expansion procedure, comprising:
- detecting, in the image, at least two structural components of the prosthetic valve at an axial position of the prosthetic valve;
- and
- measuring, in the image, the at least one lateral width between the detected at least two structural components;
- analyzing, by the control circuitry, the image to identify a constant-length structural component;
- retrieving, by the control circuitry, a length of the constant-length structural component and associating the length with the identified constant-length structural component;
- estimating, by the control circuitry, at least one outer diameter of the prosthetic valve during the expansion procedure, based at least in part on the at least one lateral width determined from the image at the axial position, and the length of the constant-length structural component, wherein the estimating comprises applying a geometric relationship between the at least one outer diameter and the at least one lateral width;
- and
- outputting an indication of the estimated at least one outer diameter during the expansion procedure.
A computing system for estimating at least one outer diameter of a prosthetic valve during an expansion procedure of the prosthetic valve at a target implantation site, comprising:
- a control circuitry;
- and
- a memory communicatively coupled to the control circuitry and storing executable instructions that, when executed by the control circuitry, cause the control circuitry to perform operations comprising:
- receiving an image, acquired by an imaging device, of the prosthetic valve during the expansion procedure;
- analyzing the image to determine at least one lateral width during the expansion procedure, comprising:
- detecting, in the image, at least two structural components of the prosthetic valve at an axial position of the prosthetic valve;
- and
- measuring, in the image, the at least one lateral width between the detected at least two structural components;
- analyzing the image to identify a constant-length structural component;
- retrieving a length of the constant-length structural component and associating the length with the identified constant-length structural component;
- estimating at least one outer diameter of the prosthetic valve, based at least in part on the at least one lateral width determined from the image at the axial position, and the length of the constant-length structural component, wherein the estimating comprises applying a geometric relationship between the at least one outer diameter and the at least one lateral width;
- and
- outputting an indication of the estimated at least one outer diameter during the expansion procedure.
