Abstract
Disclosed is a maxillary skeletal expander including: a first body coupled to a maxilla; a second body opposing the first body and coupled to the maxilla; a gap adjusting member with a first and second threaded portion provided on both sides of a main body part and respectively screwed to the first body and the second body; and an anti-rotation plate having an anti-rotation member having an elastic protrusion that protrudes toward the main body and fits into an anti-rotation recess provided along an edge of one side of the main body, so that unintentional rotation of the gap adjusting member is prevented.
Claims15
A maxillary skeletal expander comprising:
- a first body configured to be coupled to a maxilla;
- a second body configured to be coupled to the maxilla, the second body opposing the first body;
- a first guide pin and a second guide pin coupled to the first body and the second body so as to pass through side surfaces of the first body and the second body, each of the first body and the second body being movable along the first guide pin and the second guide pin;
- a gap adjusting member including a first threaded portion and a second threaded portion respectively provided on opposite sides of a main body and respectively screwed to the first body and the second body;
- a first coupling part provided between the main body and the second threaded portion;
- and
- an anti-rotation plate including:
- an assembly space recessed in one surface of the anti-rotation plate, the assembly space being formed with curved inner wall surfaces and being open at a lower side such that the first coupling part is insertable into the assembly space through the lower side;
- opposite end portions of the anti-rotation plate configured to be respectively inserted into coupling grooves provided in the first guide pin and the second guide pin;
- and
- an partially arch shaped anti-rotation member disposed on the one surface of the anti-rotation plate and facing the main body, the anti-rotation member including a coupling space aligned with the assembly space such that, in an assembled state, the assembly space and the coupling space together define a receiving space that surrounds the first coupling part;
- wherein the anti-rotation member includes an elastic protrusion extending from an end of the partial arch shape and protruding toward the main body and configured to be inserted into an anti-rotation recess formed along an edge of one side surface of the main body, such that engagement between the elastic protrusion and the anti-rotation recess restricts unintentional rotation of the gap adjusting member.
