Abstract
A hemostasis device configured to apply a compressive force to a puncture site of a patient's vessel, such as an artery of the hand, wrist, or foot, is disclosed. The hemostasis device may comprise a plurality of bands used to position and maintain a compression member over the puncture site. The hemostasis device may also comprise an inflation port in fluid communication with an inflatable bladder.
Claims17
A method of applying a compressive force to a vascular access puncture site, comprising:
- obtaining a hemostasis device comprising:
- a compression member;
- a first band;
- a second band;
- and
- a third band;
- wherein the first, second, and third bands are directly coupled to exterior sides of the compression member;
- positioning the compression member over the puncture site;
- and
- wrapping the second band around a base of a thumb and a first portion of a body portion of the second band is disposed between the thumb and a first finger when the second band is wrapped around the base of the thumb and the second portion of the body portion of a second band is coupled to the first band.
A method of applying a compressive force to a vascular access puncture site of a distal radial artery in an anatomical snuffbox of a hand, the method comprising:
- obtaining a hemostasis device comprising:
- a compression member;
- a first band;
- a second band;
- and
- a third band;
- wherein the first, second, and third bands extend outwardly from the compression member at respective first, second and third angles, and
- wherein the first, second, and third angles are independently adjustable about respective attachment points of the first band, the second band, and the third band to the compression member;
- positioning the compression member over the puncture site on the distal radial artery;
- extending the first band around a proximal portion of the hand, wherein the first band is coupled to the third band;
- extending the second band around a base of a thumb between the thumb and a first finger, wherein the second band is coupled to the first band;
- and
- activating the compression member such that a compressive force is applied to the puncture site on the distal radial artery.
A method of applying a compressive force to a vascular access puncture site, comprising:
- obtaining a hemostasis device comprising:
- a compression member;
- a first band;
- a second band;
- and
- a third band;
- wherein the first band, the second band, and the third band extend outwardly from the compression member at different angles relative to one another;
- and
- wherein the angles of outward extension of the first band, the second band, and the third band are independently adjustable relative to the compression member at respective attachment points of the first band, the second band, and the third band to the compression member;
- applying a compression force to a puncture site in a distal radial artery in an area of an anatomical snuffbox of a hand of a patient;
- and
- extending the second band around a base of a thumb between the thumb and a first finger,
- wherein a first portion of the second band is disposed between the thumb and the first finger when the second band is extended around the base of the thumb, and
- wherein a second portion of the second band is coupled to the first band.
