Abstract
Systems and methods are provided to operate, by a processor coupled to memory, a steam heating mode including selective control of a bake heating element and two or more fans according to preset and timed duty cycles of a plurality of heating stages comprising preset requirements for transitions therebetween based on received input; and heat, based on the operation, one or more food items via steam.
Claims20
A cooking apparatus, comprising:
- a cooking chamber defining a cooking cavity for receiving one or more food items;
- a bake heating element;
- at least one fan;
- and
- a processor configured to operate, based on received input, a steam heating mode including a plurality of steam heating stages,
- wherein each stage of the plurality of steam heating stages is configured to selectively control the bake heating element and the at least one fan according to a respective preset and timed duty cycle in order to generate steam and target a respective setpoint temperature that is equal to a user selected temperature plus a stage-specific offset, and
- wherein one or more stages of the plurality of steam heating stages is configured to operate the bake heating element such that the bake heating element provides a majority of heat output for the one or more stages.
A method of operating a cooking apparatus comprising a cooking chamber defining a cooking cavity for receiving one or more food items, a bake heating element, at least one fan, and a processor, the method comprising:
- operating, by the processor, a steam heating mode including a plurality of steam heating stages, wherein each stage of the plurality of steam heating stages selectively controls the bake heating element and the at least one fan according to a respective preset and timed duty cycle to generate steam and target a respective setpoint temperature that is equal to a user selected temperature plus a stage-specific offset,
- wherein the bake heating element provides a majority of heat output for one or more stages of the plurality of steam heating stages.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising computer program code instructions, being executable by a computer, for:
- operating a steam heating mode including a plurality of steam heating stages, wherein each stage of the plurality of steam heating stages selectively controls a bake heating element and a fan according to a respective preset and timed duty cycle to generate steam and target a respective setpoint that is equal to a user selected temperature plus a stage-specific offset, and
- wherein one or more stages of the plurality of steam heating stages is configured to operate the bake heating element such that the bake heating element provides a majority of heat output for the one or more stages.
