Abstract
In one aspect, fabric materials are disclosed that have been treated with a fluid resistant treatment containing a water resistant composition and an oil resistant composition. The fluid resistant treatment may be substantially fluorocarbon free. Protective garments can be made from the fabric materials that provide resistance to water and/or oil.
Claims18
A protective garment comprising:
- a fabric material comprising a woven fabric, a knitted fabric, a nonwoven fabric, or a combination thereof, the fabric material having a basis weight from about 0.5 osy to about 4 osy, the fabric material comprising polyester fibers in an amount greater than 80% by weight;
- the fabric material being treated with a fluid resistant treatment, the fluid resistant treatment impregnating the fabric material, the fluid resistant treatment being substantially fluorocarbon free, the fluid resistant treatment comprising:
- a water resistant composition;
- an oil resistant composition, the oil resistant composition comprising a silicone-containing polymer;
- one or more cross-linking agents, the one or more cross-linking agents and the oil resistant composition being present in the fluid resistant treatment in a weight ratio of about 1:1 to about 1:8, the one or more cross-linking agents and the water resistant composition being present in the fluid resistant treatment in a weight ratio of about 1:1 to about 1:7.
