Weed seed destruction in a combine harvester having a straw spreading section and a weed seed destructor with a guide component for directing the crop material

A method for separating harvested crops in a combine harvester comprising:

• separating from harvested crop a first material comprising straw and a second material comprising chaff and weed seeds;
• transmitting the first material comprising straw to a straw spreading section and spreading the first material at least to sides of the combine harvester;
• transmitting the second material comprising chaff and weeds seeds to a destructor housing;
• in the destructor housing providing destructor components in said housing which cause devitalization of the weed seeds so as to reduce a number of the weed seeds that can germinate;
• providing a guide component movable between positions including a first position and a second position where:
• in the first position directing the second material including chaff and weed seeds into the weed seed destructor housing, while the straw enters the straw spreading section;
• and
• in the second position directing the second material including chaff and weed seeds to bypass the weed seed destructor housing with at least the first material comprising straw directed to the straw spreading section.
