Methods and apparatus for spectrum utilization coordination between wireline backhaul and wireless systems

A computerized premises apparatus for use in a wireless network, the computerized premises apparatus includes:

• at least one wireless interface;
• processor apparatus in data communication with the at least one wireless interface;
• at least one network backhaul interface;
• and
• storage apparatus in data communication with the processor apparatus, the storage apparatus comprising at least one computer program configured to, when executed by the processor apparatus, cause the computerized premises apparatus to:
• engage in communication with a network device via the at least one network backhaul interface of the computerized premises apparatus;
• determine a data transmission configuration, the data transmission configuration for the transmission of data to one or more client devices using antennas of the computerized premises apparatus;
• enable establishment of a wireless connection between the computerized premises apparatus and the one or more client devices;
• and
• based at least on a criterion relating to performance or capability, cause alteration of at least one aspect of the data transmission configuration in order to enhance wireline channel quality on a backhaul;
• wherein the alteration of the at least one aspect is maintained during continued operation of the computerized premises apparatus while wireline channel performance is monitored, prior to determining whether a further alteration is required;
• and
• wherein, during the continued operation with the altered data transmission configuration, the computerized premises apparatus refrains from further alteration of the data transmission configuration until receipt of information indicating whether further alteration is required.

A computerized method of operating at least one packet transmitter apparatus of a packet network infrastructure that is in communication with at least one packet receiver apparatus, the computerized method comprising:

• obtaining, at the at least one packet transmitter apparatus, data relating to wireless frequency usage by wireless equipment connected to the at least one packet receiver apparatus, the data comprising a power value;
• comparing, by the at least one packet transmitter apparatus, the power value to a prescribed threshold to establish a gating criterion;
• based on the gating criterion being met, determining, by the at least one packet transmitter apparatus and based on configuration data sent by the wireless equipment and/or one or more other sources, an antenna sector/PCI configuration associated with the wireless equipment;
• and
• based at least in part on whether the antenna sector/PCI configuration indicates potential interference, selectively implementing, by the at least one packet transmitter apparatus, at least an optimization process with respect to one or more radio frequency (RF) channels utilized by the packet network infrastructure for communication between the at least one packet receiver apparatus and the at least one packet transmitter apparatus.
