Abstract
A group-common resource allocation method for multicast and broadcast service (MBS) and related devices are provided. The method includes when there is no data ongoing for MBS and unicast on an active BWP, switching from the active BWP to a default BWP upon expiry of a first MBS bwp-Inactivity Timer for MBS or a bwp-Inactivity Timer for unicast; and monitoring group-common resources on the default BWP for MBS reception. With this method, power consumption for MBS reception is improved.
Claims18
A bandwidth part (BWP) switching method for multicast and broadcast service (MBS), performed by a user equipment (UE) in a network, the method comprising:
- when there is no data ongoing for MBS and unicast on an active BWP, switching from the active BWP to a default BWP upon expiry of a first MBS bwp-Inactivity Timer for MBS or a bwp-Inactivity Timer for unicast;
- monitoring group-common resources on the default BWP for MBS reception;
- transiting to RRC_INACTIVE or RRC_IDLE upon the default BWP;
- and
- transiting to RRC_CONNECTED upon reception of MBS paging once special events occur, wherein the special events comprise one of the following:
- emergency service;
- change of an MBS serving cell;
- or
- new data arriving.
A bandwidth part (BWP) switching method for multicast and broadcast service (MBS), performed by a base station (BS) in a network, the method comprising:
- configuring a user equipment (UE) with a first MBS bwp-Inactivity Timer for MBS or a bwp-Inactivity Timer for unicast for the UE to switch, when there is no data ongoing for MBS and unicast on an active BWP, from the active BWP to a default BWP upon expiry of the first MBS bwp-Inactivity Timer or the bwp-Inactivity Timer for unicast;
- expecting the UE to monitor group-common resources on the default BWP for MBS reception;
- configuring the UE for the UE to transit to RRC_INACTIVE or RRC_IDLE upon the default BWP;
- and
- transmitting MBS paging to the UE once special events occur, to make the UE transit to RRC_CONNECTED upon reception of the MBS paging, wherein the special events comprise one of the following:
- emergency service;
- change of an MBS serving cell;
- or
- new data provided to the UE.
