Abstract
Several embodiments of scalable image processing systems and methods are disclosed herein whereby color management processing of source image data to be displayed on a target display is changed according to varying levels of metadata.
Claims3
A method for encoding a bitstream comprising coded image data and metadata, the method comprising:
- accessing source video signals;
- encoding the source video signals to generate coded image data;
- generating output metadata associated with the coded image data;
- and
- generating a bitstream comprising the coded image data and the output metadata, wherein the output metadata comprise a first set of metadata, a second set of metadata, and a third set of metadata, wherein:
- the first set of metadata describes characteristics of a reference display device that is used to produce the coded image data in the bitstream, the first set of metadata comprising:
- a) a white point for the reference display device, and
- b) three primaries for the reference display device,
- the second set of metadata includes parameters about ambient light conditions at the reference display device that is used to produce the coded image data in the bitstream, and
- the third set of metadata describes tone-mapping parameters to display the image data on a target display.
